The FCSS Scripps Spelling Bee, in conjunction with the 32nd Fresno County Superintendent of Schools Spell Off, will be held at the Clovis Veterans Memorial District on Thursday, February 25, 2027.

Event Day Information

Elementary Registration: 8:15 am

Elementary School Competition: 9:00 am

Junior High Registration: 12:15 pm

Junior High Competition: 1:00 pm

Scripps Qualifying Competition: 3:30 pm

District Coordinators

The FCSS Spell Off is a regional qualifier for the overall Champion Speller to enter the Scripps National Spelling Bee. In addition to sending the top two elementary and top two junior high spellers in Fresno County to the State spelling competition, the single overall Fresno County Champion Speller will represent Fresno County at the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C. in May 2027.

Contestants in the Fresno County Spell Off MUST win a local spelling bee to participate in this regional qualifier.
